چکیده

This paper reports on the transfer of the traditional QoS notion into the environment of distributed hypermedia systems. We will show that the concept of QoS that has been developed in the technical environment is unprofitable for the user of a hypermedia application. A new view should emphasise the use of the QoS terminology based on the requirements of the user, who wants to express quality with regard to his subjective needs. A user interface called "Quality Query by Example" will be presented as a solution for these requirements. In this paper we will try to give a basic overview of the concepts of QoS and to emphasize the coherence between QoS and hypermedia systems.

Improving QoS in VANETs: A Survey

The systems in which information and communication technologies and systems engineering concepts are utilized to develop and improve transportation systems of all kinds are called “The Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)”. ITS integrates information, communications, computers and other technologies and uses them in the field of transportation to build an integrated system of people, roads ...

Future Hypermedia Retrieval Systems and their Impact on Transfer Systems

Among the most popular distributed applications in today's networks are Hypermedia Retrieval Systems. Due to their rising popularity as well as performance limitations imposed by the underlying communication system the well known 'World Wide Web' is turning a 'World Wide Wait': Response times increase and at peak traffic times many sites are virtually unreachable. On the other hand emerging net...

Multicast Routing in Wireless Sensor Networks: A Distributed Reinforcement Learning Approach

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are consist of independent distributed sensors with storing, processing, sensing and communication capabilities to monitor physical or environmental conditions. There are number of challenges in WSNs because of limitation of battery power, communications, computation and storage space. In the recent years, computational intelligence approaches such as evolutionar...

Quality of Service (QoS) in Distributed Hypermedia-Systems

This paper reports on the transfer of the traditional QoS notion into the environment of distributed hypermedia systems. In the beginning we will analyse the concepts of "Quality of Service" from a general point of view. Then we try to examine the QoS idea as it is used and supported in the OSI standard and other CCITT recommendations. We will show that the concept of QoS that has been develope...

LOSS PROCESS ANALYSIS OF THE KNOCKOUT SWITCH USING STOCHASTIC ACTIVITY NETWORKS - Computer Communications and Networks, 1995. Proceedings., Fourth International Conference on

The proposed use of Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) in B-ISDNs necessitates fast packet switches (FPS) capable of providing adequate quality of service (QoS). The Knockout switch is an FPS with low delay and cell loss at the switch level. However, the performance perceived by a specific input is not simple to determine, since the often computed cell loss probability (CLP) is a time averaged va...
